KANAN TOWNSEND
Kanan M. Townsend, a proud native and product of Marlboro County, serves as the Facility Manager and Technical Assistant of the Marlboro Civic Center. His journey with the Civic Center began long before his current role—first as a middle school student performing on its stage, and later as a dedicated worker behind the scenes. That lifelong connection has shaped his passion for ensuring the Center remains a place where the arts, community, and culture can thrive.
In his role, Kanan oversees the daily operations of the facility, combining artistic talent, organizational leadership, and hands-on technical expertise to bring concerts, productions, and community gatherings to life and help foster a space where performers, audiences, and community members feel welcomed and inspired. Known for an energetic spirit and a heart for service, Kanan works to ensure that the Civic Center continues to be a place where culture thrives and people come together.
Above all, Kanan sees his work as more than a job—it is a calling. Believing that every good work is ministry, he strives to glorify God through his service to the community. To him, the Marlboro Civic Center is not just a building, but a place of fellowship, inspiration, and growth for Marlboro County and beyond. To God be the glory for the things He has done and will continue to do through this work.
